Trivia Fun:

What are the stars made out of?  Stars are burning balls of gas.  The kind of gas
depends on how old the star is.  Young stars are made mostly of hydrogen.  As the stars
age, the tremendous heat inside them turns some of the hydrogen into other gases.
Older stars also have helium and carbon.

How hot is the sun?  The sun's surface is about 11,000 degrees Fahrenheit.  It rises
to several million degrees at its center.  A candle flame is about 700 degrees
Fahrenheit.  Your warm bath water is about 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

What galaxy is Earth in?  Our solar system, including Earth, is in the Milky Way
Galaxy.  The entire galaxy has about 200-400 billion stars in it.

Why does Saturn have rings?  It's really cold by Saturn.  A long time ago, a comet
(large ball of ice) or a moon of Saturn came so close to Saturn that it broke apart.  From
Earth, the rings look solid, but they are actually tiny particles of ice.
Recycling is Fun!
Recycling is good for the environment and it's good for your future.
We are all a part of one system and every decision we make has
consequences for all.  We're working together to make good choices
so those consequences are good ones!  Thank you for all of the cell
phones you have turned in to help protect the habitat of the African
Gorillas.
How does it help?

How much has STARBASE CT recycled with the help of all of the
5th grade students since May 2008?
